I never said I didn't. I own a house in Kingsley which is 3/4 paid for, the other 1/4 is owned by the bank... which is a six-figure sum. Not a bad stab in only five years. But this gravy train looks to be reaching the end of the line, so it's time to reassess... not just my financial position, but the lifestyle I want to live for the second half of my life.

For the value of this house I could have 20 acres somewhere, a small house and a workshop, and a good few years of financial freedom to establish myself within a community. As a country boy who grew up on cattle farms in country Vicco this sounds much more appealing than surrendering my best years to horrid FIFO rosters just to pay off a bank loan to live in a nice-but-forgettable suburb 20 minutes from the fourth nicest city in Australia.

sounds like you know the answers yourself.

you don't really have a beef do you?

the thread title is a bit misleading , it's your own situation , not Australia's.

I don't care how rich you are and don't particularly want to hear about it.

Try Mt Isa. Don't know your skill set, but, If you're not prepared for the remoteness, the heat, the lack of rain ,some local issues, you're not fair dinkum. However, if you like fishing ,4WDing, and all that goes with it , worth looking at. Bob

    Welcome to Mount Isa Mines
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

It's only 18km from the Cape Clear lighthouse.
