    Land Rover Poetry

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year AULROers

I was contemplating my D1 the other day and composed this ode, I hope you like it and are inspired to make some more.

    O Splendiferous D1

    O Splendiferous D1
    Resplendent in Thy Shiny Blueness
In thee I ride as an Earl or Lord
    Master of all I survey
Serene and removed from the traffic fray

    O Marvellous Land Rover
Built far away in Rainy England,
    Far thou hast travelled,
To join me in the Antipodes
That we may climb hills and kerbs together

    O Stupendous Land Rover
Blessed with windows where others are bereft
    Ready to convey a Pope
    Or myself, hither and yon
Over hill, down dale and ever on

    O Splendiferous Tdi
    Thy gentle chatter seduces,
    Truly thy torque is beguiling
Ensconced in thee, oblivious am I
To the cares and trials of the day

    O Wondrous Land Rover
Is that a voice I hear?
    Calling my name from afar?
As we gently lurch over some small bump?
    Nay, tis but an Echo.

    The Landrover Prayer

    Our Father
    Who Art In Solihull
    Land Rovering Be Thy Name
    To The Tracks We Come
    Thy Maintenance Is Done
In Garages As In On The Tracks
    Give Us Our Daily Drive
    And Forgive Us Our Trespasses
As We Forgive Who Seek To Ban Us
Lead Us Not Into Illegal Closures
But Deliver Us From The Greenies
    For Thine Is The Clearance
    The Articulation
    And The Traction Forever
    Amen

    Tinkle, Tinkle little car
How I wonder what you are.

    Leaking oil every day
    Having it your own way.

    Going up hills real slow
I don't want you any mo'.

    Tinkle, Tinkle little car
Boy, what a lemon you are

(not my poem - not my words...
but I thought some may like it)
