Nanny State Again

what the hell is it that you think a couple of quick trips to 80 deg does to alter the goodness of of milk?

mainly it stops the possibility of kids getting Q fever and a couple of other nasties

the trip to 2000psi only puts the cream into solution....

personally, i think the fact that one child has died, means things need to be altered so it isn't sold in containers that look like normal milk in the hope there is little chance that a child could accidentally be exposed to a very debilitating and sometimes fatal illness that is entirely preventable at little to no cost..

I wish to clarify, in recent times, how many kiddies have died from accidentally drinking milk for cosmetic use?
All of the cases I have heard of were knowingly fed raw milk not intended human consumption.
How would any changes in packaging or labeling stop this?

But this only addresses the issue of children accidentally opening the container.
The problem is, I think the Alternative lifestyle city mothers who think they are doing the right thing by feeding their children unprocessed foods.
I think child proof lids and bittering agents would work.
This would also address several issues. And this is just my opinion. The small cottage dairies are set up to use conventional packaging. And they are producing a product that is cheaper to produce as it does not require so much processing. The profit margins are higher as well because the end product is sold in a niche market for 3 or 4 times what a litre of 'normal' milk costs. If you introduce new packaging and additives many small cottage dairies could not absorb the cost of the up grading of the machinery and simply stop producing raw milk. Those that could would produce a far more expensive 'beauty' product that Earth mother doesn't want anyway.

By all means, put a child proof lid on the container but that doesn't solve the problem.

but making he package stand out will have some effect.

forcing them to not use packaging that looks like "proper" milk will have a major effect on price, availability and viability of a product that shouldn't be for sale in the first place in a fridge beside "proper" milk, as it can kill.

I suggest completely different packaging for this milk to any actual
drinking milk... and yes, in this case nothing would make a difference as this "hippie" has made a decision that has cost their kid their life...

Ah, yes. All fine suggestions but, getting back to what I think the point of the OP, all knee jerk reactions that fix a problem that doesn't exist. The problem is parents are knowingly feeding this product to their toddlers. You want to solve the problem? Solve that one. Anything else is pointless nanny state compliance.
