10L/100kms 300Tdi Disco vs 9L/100kms LS1 350ci Dunnydore!!
Hi,
Just returned from a trip from Bundy to Townsville return in my "new" disco 1 Tdi.
I was interested in economy so carefully checked.
10L/100 kms on highway with 260kgs of family, luggage and air con all the way.
I was prety pleased with that although my commodore will return just better than this on the same trip. (6 speed manual='s 1500 rpm's @105kms/h) Landy doesn't overtake anywhere near as well, but that's OK as the commodore doesn't do sand/mud etc at all!!
Looking forward to the comparison when towing my 17'caravan. The commodore uses 18L/100kms but you should see me fly up the ranges!
Fuel price was the killer though ULP=98-102 oily stuff=108-117!!
Cheers
Sean

I know how you feel about those fuel prices. Whats in the commodore, would i be right in assuming its a 5.7lt Chev, given the 6 speed gearbox? Thats good economy out of one of those, the manufacturers stated average is 12.5 for the manual. Matt
