i went on yesterday afternoons strike team.
im going out on another strike team tonight.
and it looks like another monday.

conditions are horrible. the water bombers arnt able to stop the forward rate of spread of the fire.
1 fire appliance was lost yesterday evening, all crew members safe.

and all because some ***head thought it would be a good idea to use an incinerator on a total fire ban day.

    Thumbs down

We have some very good friends living in Humbug Scrub.
They lost their power last night, & subsequentlydecided to leave their lovely home, & went to Gawler. They learned this morning that the very next house to them had been destroyed, but their house is Ok, although they have beeen unable to return there yet.
    Very frightening stuff.

Does anyone know why a C130 made a couple of trips from Melbourne (Avalon or Point Cook), did a few low-level orbits over the Adelaide Hills fire area then went back to Melbourne? I don't think it was RAAF.

They have definitely used it over here to identify hot spots in difficult terrain before...

Maybe it had dropped its load elsewhere
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Been watching with great interest and concern. This is my old stomping ground with mates all through the area. Mate at Inglewood has been in the local CFS for 45 years and they evacuated.

See they had to defend the Gumeracha hospital so that shows how close it got into the towns.

Those guys do an amazing job. Hope they all stay safe and they get to meet the guy who started it at a latter date.
