Stay safe all of those near the SA and Vic Fires.....

SA bushfire: Homes lost as Adelaide Hills blaze burns towards townships - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Hope no AULRO members or their friends and family are caught up in this... looks pretty ugly.

The cool change looks like it will bring more challenges to the Vic fire fighters too.

    Stay safe everyone.......

I'm about 30km from the big Adelaide Hills fire and not in direct line of fire for any forseeable wind direction in the next couple of days at least. I know plenty of locals living in the current forward fire spotting area though and the CFS seem to be keeping up with the spot fires there for now. Luckily the winds seem to be relatively mild and a few showers are starting in the neighbourhood. The only AULROvian I know of in the next danger area (SW wind change just came through) is Marty110 at Mt Pleasant. Him and Sitec are probably very busy right now.

It is about 15km from our place, and we are in suburbia...

Been a slightly tense day here, but the reasoning been that if it got this far, then nothing is going to stop it.

Have a few friends that have been evacuated, or ordered to leave.

The wind change is coming thru now, so just waiting to see what that brings.

The CFS have advised they are not attempting to put it out at this stage, but are protecting vital assets first, property second, then whatever else they can.

Going to be a busy couple of days, as the temp is expected to climb again by Wednesday.

NSW & Vic have come to the party, by sending planes, and ground troops are on their way tonight. That is what the true Aussie spirit is about.

I don't think she's at risk unless things change a long way to the bad. There's about 40-50km of well populated farmland between the Mt Barker district and the big fire. Local lightning strikes would be more of a worry but the band of storms seems to have headed off east.

The trouble with this fire was that it started just upwind of a small mountain covered in dense natural scrub and pine forest. Just about the whole lot's gone up. If the wind stays favourable the CFS will hopefully be able to stop it going too far out of that region. The surrounding districts are much more open and pretty well grazed down although there are plenty of smaller pockets of forest and scrub in it.

Thoughts are with you all, I've been through these things growing up in the scrub, I really hope everyone is safe and there is no loss of property or worse.

Local Moyston fire just downgraded, not under control but "significantly eased fire conditions" due to the rain and the outstanding efforts of the local CFA.

    Phew.

The Black Range fire still a concern so we'll keep an eye on that, think it was a lightning strike.

Good luck to others still struggling.
