    More Fires

Got called in for a fire 40km west of town testerday morning, first took a water truck out, then had to return to town to get my grader to but firebreaks in.
It was 45degC yesterday, the fire was started by harvesting equipment,a farm worker got severe burns, yet to hear his condition. Was told not good, his skin was falling off,was medivaced to Perth in a rescue chopper.
There were water bombers and helitacs at the fire, the helitacs were real impressive, filling out of farm dams and dropping their load and back for another load in no time.
Just when it was mop up time there came calls of futher fires in close to town in Williams.Another 3 farm fires, all started at once by lightening strikes.
I was sent to the worse fire to help out with firbreaks. All under control by 11pm.A long hot day when one was enjoying holidays.
A few pics from the first fire whilst I had the water truck,my job was to fill farmers ures as they needed more water.

Saw on the news that it was a bit hot down your way and in Perth yesterday. Only got to a bit over 35 up here, but windy.

Can't believe that there was no harvesting ban in place under those conditions yesterday. Who are the bloody fools who make that call ????

Also, I would have thought that the bloody farmers might have enough common sense not to go running harvesting equipment round the paddocks in these conditions, harvesting ban or not - ..................... obviously not.
    Cheers .........
