I received an email yesterday about registering for an off road test drive of the LR3 from Trivett classic. This is the link if anyone is interested.

Yeah I saw the ad too :!:

Damn near fell over with surprise and shock...

I would have, too, if it hadn't been for the fact I was sitting down at the time.

I had a look at them at the Trivett stand at the 4WD show. Would you believe there's no 12 volt outlet in the rear? The factory forgot to install them so there's just blanking plugs over the holes. And they don't come fitted in the 5-seater. Even the top of the line HSE didn't have them.

How come my Forester can have them and a bloody expensive car like a HSE can't? Bloody LR have no idea.

I also spoke to the owner of the first privately owned one. He loves it.

I just saw the ad for the first time....... :? :? :? What a waste!

If they were going to spend all that money on prime time advertising I thought they might have made a better ad.

The only message I took out of it was something about being "Part time..." A D3 sliding over snow/ice (very relevant to the Aust market)?

Seriously....it cannot be that difficult to make an ad relevant to the Australian market? The thing has just won the two most prestigous awards in the country and they don't even mention it!

Any ad is better than none, but if LRA's marketing budget is that cash-strapped why not better target their ads???

I don't think this is true. Apart for the 2 in the front (12V outlet and Cigarette lighter) there should be one in the middle row at then back of the centre console and another one in the third row on 7 seaters. SE's & HSE's come with 7 seats standard. That's 4 all up.

Maybe they should. But of the 4 on display, only the 7-seater SE had the rear sockets fitted. The HSE didn't have sockets. I checked. If it had 7 seats, the rear two were folded into the floor. I didn't check that.

    Ron,

I had heard some O/Sea's models didn't get a rear socket.

When I eventually get mine I'll be able to tell for sure. I'll feel somewhat cheated if they aren't all there - these can't cost much to put in. I've still never got over the fact that the centre LCD panel (called the "Message Centre") isn't fitted in Australian models unless you option the navigation system for another $6100 or $7300 Every picture you see of the dash has this LCD screen fitted including all of the vehicles tested by the mags so you'd assume it was standard.

But heck, never assume anything otherwise it will make an ass of you and me! Must be the LR motto

Sorry I've got off the subject of the thread.

Actually, I'm trying to think what I have watched in the past week.

Dr Who and, err, umm.... Nope, that's it. (I don't watch TV news and I don't watch sport).
