    Defender Capital Of Australia

I have just come back from my hit and run jaunt from Brisbane to Longreach and back. Great trip even though I did it in a Ford Territory (good vehicle).

Speaking as a West Australian I must take my hat off to Queenslanders. I saw my first two Defenders withing 2 minutes of leaving airport. Heading north from Brisbane I have to say we were all delighted in our car ( me and a Defender family travelling together) to see so many Defenders. Not counting 78 series utes I have to say I saw an equal number of Defenders to Troopies.

    Lots of Series vehicles too.

I was really hard to resist the wave and smile reflex because we were not in our Defenders.

Best Defender we saw was a 130 cab chasis. He had extended the cab so there was a good amount of room behind the seats (aftermarket and set further back). He then had mounted a very nice fibreglass body. Neatly finished with pinstriping. Even had a "Custom 130" sticker.

He must have been surprised to see us pull over in a Territory and ask if we could take snaps of his car!

Have lots of Australia to see yet but so far north of Brisbane would have the highest Defender per capita ratio Ive seen yet. By a long shot.

Yes I will gather them off the various cameras and load them onto my album.

Wish I had thought of that earlier - I would have take close ups of the cab extension and detailing.
