A friend at work rang his elderly mother in Yeppoon to check if she was alright - and got an earful. First she complained that the wind had blown away the washing she had on the line. When he asked why she had put washing out in a cyclone she said it was only 'a little wind and rain'. "It'll be over soon - won't it?" she asked him. He said no, it had only just begun, and asked why she hadn't gone to the cyclone shelter in the basement of a local school like everyone else. She said she had lived in Yeppoon for a long time and no storm was going to drive her out of her home.

Crikey, just watching it on TV. As said on here before, stay safe guys. Would you believe I am watching an idiot surfing on the Sunshine Coast and all the beaches are closed.

Last year you were complaining about not getting any (rain).

Yup! grew up in Brisbane in the 50/60's and have been through a couple of blows, living semi-rural now,so my main worry now is fallen trees, the property drains off into the main farm dam so while it maybe a little squishy under foot it will drain away,we have a 3.5metre layer of clay 1 metre below grass level, so it just fills up like a sponge.
How will you blokes get on if there is a bit of a storm surge from the TC. Would it get that far up the passage? Hope all is OK

Checked the rain gauge and from midnight last night until now - zero. Roads are currently dry and blue patches in the sky.
