I said that to her, she was a little stressed & I got a rude answer, she also pointed out that it was not raining much in town so even though she was held up she thought she would be OK.
She also said that when she had to drive through water on all the causeways home, 3 of them, she thought it might be a bit dodgy. Anyway, I'm sure next time it is belting down & the creek is pretty high in the morning she will keep the kids home.
Quite funny really - being flooded on our own driveway. Anybody know anything about bridge building?
She is good, got food for a week & gum boots if it doesn't stop raining.

Glad it all ended OK. No point taking risks.

We don't build bridges, just have cause ways and park the cars on the road side of the creek before it floods. Then use one of the tractors to get across and away we go!

Had a bit of experience with floods. Back in the 50's, in central Qld. Me 5 year old, Dad had to saddle the horse & 2 packhorses, swam a flooded river, a couple of creeks, to get flour & sugar, tea, mutton, all we had to eat was a tray of scones. Mum & I up all night, the water just under the floorboards. I have a vivid memory of mum , armed with a broom, sweeping snakes off the verandah. At the very least, buy your wife a land rover. First of, good to read a story like this with a good ending. We owned a diesel Delica. Great family bus. Not to bad of road as well

Crossed this stream with the Delica back in 2007. Was either cross or about a six hour detour.

I can not believe that any one can say it was a good decision. One sentence says to me we could be talking about a tragedy today.

No offence, but nothing will convince me that the decision was good, and I will not put a happy face on it just to make people feel good. Bob
