Hang in there Steve, hopefully rain is all you will get off Nathan. Yes it's about time some of the wet arrived. As you say "bring it on" the barra will definitely love it![]()
6 or 7 years ago I had the slab poured for the shed in Cooktown.
Main work space is 9x9 or so, shed also has two side bays and a rear "wood shop" these days. When building my concrete guy suggested I raise the main slab a full 100mm over the other flat work. I had planned for 50mm. He got the 9x9mm square to within 2mm and dead flat as in water does not run dead flat. And 6 years later not one crack... sorry Scouse. The outside 'crete all flows away at about 1:20.
Anyways, the last 2 and a bit days the Cooktown airport has recorded 400mm of showers. My block is on the southern side of the Mount Cook ridge and would have worn more than that total plus a mountain side of run off.
Have just finished sandbagging etc etc but last night I used up 99.9mm of that 100mm step.
All the surrounding bays and flat work was ankle deep but workshop essentially dry.
Now the sand bags are in place I say bring it on! Another 250 today will flush the rivers and really turn the barras on. One of my favourite rivers up north is 12m over the gauge, Normanby at Battle camp is running 11m so Lakefield (Rinyirri) will get a good flushing.
Send her down Huey

We had ex tropical cyclone Olwyn pass very close,if not overhead today. It was a non event, got windy around lunch time, nothing nasty.
We had steady lite rain all last nite,it cleared and got VERY sticky and warm just before the winds. Now getting constant lite soaking rain(for the last 2 1/2 hours) like last nite.Interstingly it isnt showing on the radar.
LOVING THE COOL WET CHANGE
