    Not really strange but people around here seem to have taken to putting shirts & a hat on ant mounds. Can really throw you at night, think it's a person.

    Back in the 90's I was driving to Brisbane when I passed a wooden wagon being pulled by 6 camels.

    Also in the 90's we were driving to Cloncurry & there was new pair of RM Williams boots just sitting beside the road miles from anywhere. Except for dust they were in perfect condition & placed neatly side by side, very strange.

    A Chinook helicopter, middle of the road, 1:00am 75km from Normanton, Thought I had found a UFO & 1 of my fantasies/nightmares was about to be fulfilled.

    About 20 years ago my father and I were heading along the Tanami at night not far from the Wolfe Creek Crater (long before the films!) when we saw some lights in the sky, initially red then green then back to red moving about a bit weird, no noise (although it was a bit windy). Dad spotted it and at first I thought it was reflection of something from inside the car but after pulling up, whatever it was was in the sky. I'm not about to say it was other worldly but there was something there for sure ... and on the face of it there's nothing to confuse it with out there

    Easily the strangest thing I've seen out bush

    A little unsettling, out near Wangarrata, I found some sort of BIG paw prints for a few meters, two long toe prints in the middle, with two shorter ones, one on each side. Prints almost as long as my foot (I wear a size 12 mens shoe), and as wide as the my hand thunb to pinkie. Claws about an inch long on the end of each toe. Later at night laying in my swag under the stars I heard some wierd gutteral noises that sounded like they were from a BIG animal. I layed there ****ting myself for about half an hour before I worked up the courage to move, at which point I made a very hasty beeline for the Land Cruiser, and spent the night in the cab with the doors locked. Wish I had taken photos of the prints. I know there are big cats in that area, but these were no cat prints. My best guess in a BIG marsupial that walks on aoll fours, like the supposedly extinct marsupial lion. Still get a cold shiver whenever I think about it.

    I have a couple of strange sightings, both when I was working for the Central Mapping Authority in Bathurst. The first is having a set of blinking lights follow the vehicle along a windy dirt road in the West Retreat area out from Manilla. What was it? Don't know, but it was certainly very strange. always stayed about 3-400 yards away and, in the late dusk you just could n't quite make out a distinct shape. Mind you, we were not about to stop neither! Classic UFO i.e. Unidentified.

    The second occurred whilst I was doing what was called Field completion for a new/revised map. I drove into a quarry near Kiama from memory and there were dozens of cars. Shells of cars really, no drivetrain or wheels, just the body shell. Maybe a hundred in all. Some were just sitting there and many were buried nose first into the ground at about 45 degrees. All of them were painted flat black and they were placed fairly symmetrically. Wasn't until some time later that I found out why they were there. See the link;

    Up the road at Ourimbah... the pile seems to get bigger each time i visit. How did that white car at the very back make it that far!?

    Unfortunately seeing this sort of thing in the bush isn't all that uncommon.
