The township closest to the cobblestone road (and the answer to this question) is on WA's longest river and it was extensively damaged and completely evacuated due to flooding in December 2010. The RAN has a ship named after the river and the townships name reflects this also.

    Enough clues ?

    Deano

ps. sorry all, I didn't expect this to be so difficult. A traveller literally drives over it on the way to Kennedy Range National Park.

Well done Roger, Gascoyne Junction it is with the cobblestone road clearly visible in your Google Earth shot. A bit of (nearly) forgotten history.

    The baton is passed.

I don't know about 'well done', I was lost (although in the right area) until your final group of clues.

Let's go east for the next one - couldn't go far west anyhow.
Both the bridge and the river have names so either will do.

    Not Girrakool.
It is one of three similar bridges on the same track

Not on The Great North Walk and considerably more substantial than Phil Haughton's Bridge.

It is however on a recognised historical walking track.
