You've got it. This was the first time it filled in about 7 years after construction, the flow was pretty spectacular for me as a little kid. Nowadays the dam has been modified to reduce the peak flow to reduce downstream flooding. A yootoob video from the same spot in 2009:

As a hydrographer I would have been disappointed if I didn't get that one. But you had me wondering when you put the "ca" in your original post.

That was certainly a decent spill in 2009.

I had to go back to 2003 for this one......



Not many tracks in this area so the name of the 'reserve' will do.

Its on the Eyre Peninsular, just sorting though the grey stuff to remember exactly where, Bascombe Well ??

"ca." being shorthand for "circa".

I imagine the spillway would have being going gangbusters in September after the second giant storm. The poor little Torrens River was running 6 metres deeper than normal. Roads were closed so you couldn't get near the spillway to take pictures. Lots of damage to the Torrens Linear park.

I realised that when you advised that it was in Australia ....... when I first saw the ca though, I incorrectly registered it as Canada

Bascombe Well Conservation Reserve is correct - a fascinating area IMHO.
