Well, Dickerrie used to the wet weather crossing back in the eighties, then when I last crossed in 2007, we had to detour south of the normal QAA crossing.

So as a last guess (and with many clues from you ) I think you must be in the vicinity of Ruwolts Bore

I think I need to get out there again, it's been too long.

    You win the prize Roger.

What I was looking for was Eyre Creek ford (or something similar). When the QAA/Eyre Creek crossing is like my last photo (2009), you needed to detour about 30 km to the north to cross, unless of course you're Nat parks or the like then you can detour about 1 km or so to the south) .

2009 was a very wet season though and the original photo shows a swamp one side of the dune and a very full Eyre Creek the other. Pretty weird really, I didn't expect to see this in a desert.

Do you have a grid reference for that actual crossing? Forget that, I've just found it plus a name for it - Goonamillera Xing. There is also another crossing between there and Dickerrie Waterhole - would only be good in low flow conditions though.

Anyway, to keep things moving, here's the next one ...........

Not the name I know it as but names do change and there are a number of small creeks in the area and it is near Dalhousie. So if you can show the location on a map or give me a lat & long then I may well be able to pass the baton to you.

It appears to be named Christmas Creek on some maps. 26 Degrees 27.562 south, 135 Degrees 24.690 east.

A far better place to camp than the campgrounds at the springs which smelt like sewerage when we were there....

That's the spot and that's the name I know it by.
I also agree with you re not camping at the Dalhousie Camp Ground - we've always stopped to do some washing then hang it on the fence while we have a swim then move on to camp. Last time along the Finke River north east of Mt Dare as we were heading for the return crossing via the Madigan Line.

    Where to now Tote?
