A place, which i think is south slightly, called Monkey Mia was on the great outdoors a while ago, you can feed and swim with dolphins. That looked really nice, Stacey has put it on the top of her list when we actually get over there.

If you get desperate, you could always arrange to meet up with BigBugga.

Like about an 11 hour drive, plenty of good fishing there, off cape Peron and the whole Shark Bay Peninsula

I forget the name of the place but the walk through aquarium is a must see.

I was discussing this with friends yesterday. I said the best thing you could do in Perth is unpack and stay. Perth is probably best during beach weather. It's a lifestyle more than a place to do lots of stuff. Having said that, Fremantle for a wander/ coffee and meal is the way to go. The revolving restaurant is called "C" now but honestly while the views are great so is the price. There is more to choose from in Fremantle. I'd consider staying at the Esplanade if you arren't staying with friends/relatives. It's a good base to wander from.

Zoo and maritime museum are good suggestions. Rottnest for a day trip would be good fun.

Fremantle = plenty of shops, places to eat and things to see, Maritime and motor museum are almost side by side at the E-sheds.

Sorrento Keys = also has plenty of shops, cheap and expensive eating places + the Aqua underwater thingy.

Swan Valley = has very good wine tastings, cheap food, chocolate and cheese factories. Good for a day just driving around. Sort of a budget Margaret River.

Plenty of trendy-expensive coffee/eating places from Fremantle to Sorrento on the coast, which is also good for a drive to see how the rich folk live.

Rockingham, went there once and got stopped by the police and asked if I had a gun or a knife in the car with me??? When I said no they gave me one!!! 8O 8O

Yeah any of you Perthites that care to PM me with your phone numbers or other useful info (as some of you have) I'd appreciate it.

At the moment it looks like we'll be there from 12th to 17th June. Still trying to work out flights, accomodation, etc. We'd stay lobger but it's my Grandmas 95th on the 11th and I;d better not miss that, eh.

In case the "deal" we have spoken to travel agents about isn;t as good as it seems can anyone recommend any good (reasonably priced) accomodation in Fremantle (or elsewhere in Perth wherever you reckon would be the best place to base ourselves)

    Any and all advice appreciated....

It's been about 18 years since my last visit to Rotto, but it's definately on the must see list. Especially if you like to ride pushies

My personal opinion is Freo would be the better place to stay...........lots more interesting things to do and see.

As far as accomodation, there is an Irish pub in Freo which if I remember correctly while not by any means exclusive is reasonable accomodation at an affordable price. Can't think of the name at the moment, just looked up the Yellow Pages, Rosie O'Gradys Phone (08) 93351645. but as I said not first class but affordable. The Esplanade is a very nice Hotel but expensive. The Tradewinds may be OK (08) 93398188.
