Thread: Corby found guilty

I think it's a shame the way this girl is being treated. Unfortunately she's stuck with dealing with their system. As was previously mentioned they knew she was innocent, that's why she "only" got 20 years.
I suppose that they probably look at it this way, whether she knew the drugs were there or not she still bought htem into the country, therefore she's guilty. What a **** poor outcome.
You can bet there's some gutless ***** out there knowing he's to blame for her incarceration but not standing up and being held accountable for his actions.
I'll never be going to Indonesia, that's for sure.

If we look at this from both sides she got off light.

Her side. Innocent. So she should be free'd

their side. Guilty, but not proven.

OK have we looked at the fact that she may be guilty???
We dont know for sure she is innocent.
I do hope she is, but i'm open minded.

Now i think its all time we go to the Vid store and borrow "Bangkok Hilton" No relation to Paris, but thats not a bad movie also......

I like Skippy land and hearez i wilz stay.... ok skippys...

I feel pity for her, but we all know the risks and she got caught. Innocent or guilty we dont know.

So i'd be supprised if Little Johnny helps them as much as he used to....

Little Johnny "Whats that i hear... a big wave from the ocean ****ked you all up? To bad ehh..... now where are my jogging shoes"

Don't forget "Midnight express", yep no desire to go to Turkey either.
One thing to remember is over there you play by their rules.
If ya don't like the rules stay away.

I also think she is innocent, but their courts, as ours, are only allowed to weigh up on the evidence presented.
I know only a little about the law, and only that which has been reported in the local media on this case, and the facts appear to state.....

1.On landing in Bali, a boogie board bag she owns is found to contain 4.1kg of grass.
    2. She claims it isn't hers.

Basically her defence team screwed up !

Their job was to throw doubt on the prosecutions case, which on the evidence presented, was pretty open and shut. Her bag, fresh off the plain, 4.1kg of grass.

Have any of you ever heard of a trafficker say "geez, ya got me there, yep it's mine !" ?

Where they could have thrown the (inept) police handling on its head was
    a. no fingerprints were taken, and the evidence was contaminated badly.
    b. no weights were taken to compare to check in weights.
    c. when the defence finally got around to asking for fingerprints, they didn't push very hard, and backed off when the police started to get snaky, as they had lost face.
    d. There were no scientific tests done on the grass to verify its quality or origin.

None of this appears to have been followed up by the defence.
As a consequence, a girl is locked up for twenty years.

It is a harsh outcome regardless of her guilt or innocence.

To us who come from a society where you are innocent until proven guilty it seems even harsher.

I hope that the Indonesian appeal processes assist in obtaining justice. The start of a long and tedious legal and diplomatic journey

I was told by a Judge that we here view the issuing of a fine or infingement notice as the end of it. I suspect that the Indonesian system works a bit that way you need to appeal to higher courts.

But now is not the time for frothing at the mouth.

Remember that we are not whiter than snow. Our detention system for illegal immigrants is also under the spotlight internationally.

Take it from someone who has travelled, never ever put anything in the hold that you cannot put a padlock or some form of seal on.

I for one cannot comment as even though I personally dont believe she is guilty, I do not trust the media one bit and dont trust what they feed us.

I will say though from what I hear you would have to be an idiot to smuggle weed into Bali because its much cheaper over there 8O

He would want to, sitting back and letting her rot in a bali jail is outrageous. Matt

    8) the justice system there is way different from here,
    i suspect she is innocent
its a big call to think she would be dumb enough to take weed to indo.
    but
i don't support the aid versus her arguement.
i was against the 'exesses' of aid, and think that the indo's do not get what we sent.
however we have been subjected to an intense media campaign to create reaction about her case.
    i'm sorry about her outcome.
but i know of a girl in vic that murdered someone and got 15 years, so where's the line to be drawn
15 years for murder in aus,
or 20 years for drugs in indo'.

what is the penalty over there for murder?
but i do think 20 years in there gaol is a worse sentence [for a european] than death.

    in god we trust
