Wheres the engine number on a TD5?

To get an engineering certificate through I need a blue slip, and to get a blue slip I have to have the engine number match.

Where is it? Where I was told to look is just an ADR compliance plate, with build date.

The handbook gives me the no, but doesn't specify where the engine no can be found. Or the chassis number for that matter.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

    Max,

The engine number is on the N/S of the block, just under the exhaust manifold & behind the A/C compressor. If you get down to guard level then look under the manifold, you'll see it easily enough if it's clean.

The chassis number is on the O/S/F chassis rail; on the outside of the rail, just in front of the steering box.

Orright, Max. What have you done to Tusker that you need an engineering certificate?

Thank you Bryce. Helpful as ever. :-) We're not allowed to wash them are we??

G'day Ron. I thought I'd do the right thing & get the 33" tyres legal, coz they're over the 15mm rule set by the RTA. Getting the engineering certificate was the easy bit. Its the RTA who are giving me grief - whats on the website is inconsistent with what's said over the counter.

Anyway, I need a blue slip & a weighbridge ticket to go with a "change of details" form. And the blue slip means certifying everything again. Including all the stuff that hasn't changed. No. of seats, seatbelts, compliance plates etc etc etc.

And thanks to those who know where the engine number is. Its a PITA to clean up by hand. The punches caren't that deep in the casting - I'm reluctant to hit it with a wire brush on an electric drill in case I grind the numbers off!!

Anyway, never again. Its no wonder so many illegal 4WDs are driving around. This is bureacracy at its best (worst??)

    Regards
    Max P
