Stop in pine creek either on the way up or down, ( you can enter/exit Kakadu from there) there is an old American bloke who has a gold panning tourist site there , and its well worth it. Took our kids and our nephew's there over the years and its something they still talk about. The kids get to pan for gold the old way, and Pine Creek is said to be the biggest gold producing area in the country according to many.

Turn left just before crossing the bridge coming into Adelaide river if north bound and about 15 ks past the racecourse is Robin Falls , is a popular spot at times and you can camp along the edge of the stream there, but a walk up to the falls and a swim in a few of the rock pools is a good way to relax a bit. It is a bit of a hike so have decent shoes on.

Mt Bundy homestead is not a bad place to camp, they have a non powered area down the back where you can have a fire going and there's plenty of wallaby's and peacocks that wander around the place.

    Cheers Ean

Great stuff, lots of these i had no idea about!

Any suggestions on good free camping along the way? we are travelling with my neice and her BF, they are pretty young, travelling light and strapped for cash so trying to keep the costs down as much as we can for there sake(and my bank accounts sake after just dropping a ton of cash on my 130)
