Clearly I hadn't had my morning cup when typing. Single origin was what I meant to type

    Smile Portable espresso?

I got one of these a few years ago.

Handpresso Pump manual espresso maker - Handpresso

It's done a few trips now (camping weekends, across the Simpson, holiday house.... basically anywhere without a proper machine) and never fails to make a decent coffee. Oh yes, your mates will take the mickey when you first pull it out but soon they'll slink back and want to try one, or two, or.... If you are a bit of a coffee snob and won't drink anything but a proper espresso, this might be worth looking at. They aren't heavy, take up little space and are very nicely made and solid. But watch out as the large o-ring under the basket can dislodge so you need to be a bit careful with it (and/or take a spare). The travel pouch/cover/shell thingy is a must-have IMHO (almost entirely dust-proof).

Righto.... I'm off to get a coffee now...

Actually coffee was discovered/first produced in the Horn of Africa, which makes it a developing world problem, particularly when developed world importers pay the grower a pittance and keep all the profits themselves.

I hope we all use Fair Trade coffee!

It makes me laugh that full cream milk is about 96%-97% fat free and skim about 99% fat free but the same skim milk people buy 90% fat free muffins and think its being healthy.

Yes I do drink skim milk flat white, so the froth doesn't bother me (I don't want to pay for half a cup of froth).

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Cool post Lotza. Agreed. Fair trade all the way. No froth all the way. Full fat all the way 😊

    Hey DiscoClax,

I recently acquired one of these as a gift but haven't use it yet. What kind of coffee do you use - the sachet's or do you grind your own? I was wondering how fine the grind needed to be and what is a good portable grinder to suit.

    Cheers,

G'day Cripes. I tried making a few shots using home ground coffee the same as I use in my home machine but it was a bit of a hassle. Worked alright but bit messy and not overly convenient away from facilities. So I tried pods for making cups out in the boonies and I'm a convert. They take international standard ESE pods (7g size only) which you can get online pretty easily. PM me if you want more info or I can help out further. Cheerio
