    Off to Yass today to pick up the grandkids for the school holidays. I was planning to have their father bring them up at the weekend - but they talked me into going to pick them up; the argument that swayed me was that there is a Lifeline Book Fair in Canberra tomorrow.

    I have been to several of these in the past, and my best win has been a first edition of a rare H.G.Wells novel - with a bookplate showing it originally belonged to Mark Oliphant (probably Australia's greatest physicist, deeply involved in radar (cavity magnetron), Manhattan Project (isotope separation), first head of Physics at ANU, Governor of S.A..).
