I am giving up on my bees. The darn things have gone ferrell with a bad queen. Stung the stuffing out of me for the second time... smoker is useless, they just ignore it and attack in the smoke. I had two get under the bee helmet, one stung my left ear and the other got me in the corner of the eyelid next to my nose, along with countless stings through my bee suit. I have left the hive open as I can't get near it to close the box.

OK I fixed the little critters. I put on a jumper and tracky pants under the bee suit and gaffa taped everywhere they think they can get in. Around the back of the gloves and sleeves and legs too. Finished robbing the hive and put in new frames and closed the lot up. No more stings although they tried. Now I have a sore face and a swollen right hand from the first attempt. HONEY. I took 7 fully capped frames out. Now for the next hive next week.

At least you got the honey.
I was at the FIL's the other week and he's had a swarm move into one of his cupboards in the old shed out the side of the house. There is a hole in the side of it where he used to run a lead into it to charge a battery - the cupboard was full of old camping gear, now it's full of honey covered old camping gear.
One evening I cracked one of the doors open on the cupboard and they have built the hive up against the other door. I drilled a hole in that door then stuck a stick up the hole and gave it a good wiggle. We then stuck a straw up the hole, and a jar under the straw in the ground.
In the morning we all had fresh honey on our toast.
He's leaving the swarm - it's out of the way and they seem quite a calm bunch - not even getting angry when I opend the cupboard door during the day.

My Dad has always been into bees. I have never been a big fan as I was always stung as a kid. He used to leave them on different properties to get different honey. One of the property owners wanted to have a go at robbing the hive. he had no gear and he was a lot smaller than my Dad so he wore Dad's overalls and his mask etc. All my Dad then had on was a long shirt with no pants. When the property owner had properly stirred up the hive my Dad was trying to give advice from a distance. The next thing I remember is him running off with a swarm of bees around his nether regions. One of the funniest things I ever saw as a kid. Next funniest was when I turned the electric fence on when he was clearing the grass under it one day, or maybe the time us kids connected the electric fence to the clothes line. Poor stepmother.

So, after a marathon effort today, I have managed to get my new fish tank into the house and set up. It's around the 350 Ltr mark with sump filtration. I've kept fish most of my life until I built this house and I've always wanted to get a tank in here but could never figure out exactly where it would be best located and what size would work. We were discussing this just the other week while a mate was around and he said 'I'm selling my tank if that works?'.
'Hell yes' was my reply as I've always loved it.
Biggest bonus is that he lives 200 metres from me. Still a huge job to shift it - the tank alone is barely liftable with 2 people. It's not very wide, but quite deep which really makes it stand out.

Hope the Bees don't get in it.
Cheers, Billy.
