When we were working in Myanmar, our blokes bought locally six cane 'squatters chairs' for the field residence from a one man maker about ten kilometres down the highway. He delivered them on his pushbike - in one load.

So here's what the BIL from Lismore found in his chook shed last night, a carpet snake over seven foot long. It was in the process of eating a chook.
So far this summer the count is nine chooks eaten, four carpet snakes relocated and one brown snake killed while attacking the goats.
Incidentally the other BIL, who is a vet, came up with a formula for how far to take carpet snakes, which are territorial, to make sure they don't come back - one kilometre for each foot of snake. So, just to make sure, we took this fellow for a 10 kilometre ride. Soon as we chucked him out he headed for the car, so we jumped in and took off before he could hitch a ride.
Having snakes prowling around at night certainly concentrates the mind when you head out for a comfort stop, particularly if you forget a torch. I got well spooked by what I thought was a snake, but the torch revealed it was only a stick.

I've tried, believe me I have, but he has two identical maroon 80 series in the family.
In other family news I lost the mother in law in the shops at Lismore this morning, but my luck worsened and I found her...

You know a pensioner is a tightarse when their only reason for going into a shop is because it gives free cups of water from the water cooler.

How sad is that? He deserves all the Snakes he gets. Any way they probably taste better than Chook.
    Cheers, Billy.

Up North we get Amethyst Pythons. We caught one in the chook pen when I was a kid over 14' long. It was relocated to the Mossman Gorge to take care of tourists.
