Terrible news Ive just heard the six million dollar man has died!!

Apparently his doctor accidently prescribed anti biotics!!

so he was 34 in 1974 he would have been 76.

now my question is, if they could make a battery last that long back in 74, why am i still buying diesel??

Geez, I didn't realise buying a car was so bloody hard! Simple brief - SUV type thing, so SWMBO can get in and out easily - she struggles a bit in cars that are low to the ground, with 150 to 200KKM on it at around $5K - there are hundreds out there that meet the criteria - Rav4's, X trails, CRV's, Tribute/escapes, HRV's etc.

BUT - try and find someone who's not a complete dill who's trying to sell one! Spent hours on the phone, looked at plenty and am still empty handed. Who shows you their car to prospective buyers with it full of rubbish - Maccas, dog hair, etc. I know it will end up with that crap in it, but try and show it off at its best. Then there's the ones that give you a date and time you can view it - I kid you not. I've had several people when I ask to go and look at it say things like 'I'll get back to you with a date and time' or 'after 4pm on Sunday only' and 1 guy today that said it could be any day after 6.30pm. I asked to view it in the daylight and got a blunt 'No'... WTF?

So, got 2 X trails and a CRV to look at tomorrow from owners that are happy to work with me on times and actually appear to want to assist me with a purchase.

Oh, and don't mention car yards - had 2 of them reneg on an agreed price when I went back for a second look and one guy who abused me when I tried to haggle.... Offered him $5K for a car he had $6K on - he went off, told me to bugger off if I was going to insult him like that - I thought he was joking so I had a laugh, but it turned out he was serious and he got even more agro.

I'll be glad when it's all over...

Was tempted to buy it based on that

Well, had a win today. One of the cars we shortlisted was a good un, so a deal was struck and we now the proud owners of......

An '03 X Trail.

170,000Km, RWC, 12 months rego, very clean original car with good service history. PO is a member on here but hadn't been around much as he sold the Landie a few years back - for this X trail, but he's moved on to.... A Volvo...

So, we pick it up next week once the roadworthy is done and hopefully we get a few years trouble free motoring out of it.

It was nice to deal with a genuine, friendly fellow after all the BS I've been through - thanks Peter.
