French West Africa didn't turn out so well, particularly the Congo.

The Congo was the Belgians, not the French. King Leopold II. Also, the Congo is nowhere near West Africa, and is probably Africa's most central country.

Actually there was both a French and Belgian Congo, the Belgian part is known as the Dem Rep of Congo, the French also known as Middle Congo is now known as Gabon and the Central African Republic.

Yes, true, although it was a bit of a tug of war with the Germans for a while. Gabon is the only part of Africa that was ever called "Congo" that could be considered "west", but it really is not. West Africa begins with Nigeria and Chad.

Yes, I did some of that today, the garden really needed the attention. The green organics bin is now chockers. Damned things were pretty prickly, those royal blue welding gloves do come in handy for a spot of extreme weeding.
