I split the handle of my splitter splitting firewood last night. I don't have a spare. I do have two spare mattock or pick handles, and a spare axe handle.

So tonight I had to split enough wood for the night using an axle. Managed it, but the splitter is a lot better. I'll get a new handle when I go into town on Tuesday.

Just banked up the fire and got a port. I need it after spending much of today digging foundations for our planned en-suite. Matter of fact, I might need several ports.

I don't need a fire. I've got Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning.
    Cheers, Billy.

Ours is broken, still hunting around to try to find someone to fix it

SWMBO hates them as they sometimes blow the cold air around, and seem to make cold draughts.

Suits me, as the fire is cheaper to run, produces lots of heat, a nice atmosphere, and is nicer to watch.

When they built our house ( probably 1920's ) they forgot to put in a fire place.

Just ran out of water in the main tank at Maleny, probably because a month ago the hot water system sprang a leak and emptied itself, flooding part of the house and losing an unknown amount of water as the pump tried to refill the hot water system, but obviously a large amount. We still have water in the second garden tank, so if we can't get water delivered tomorrow I'll have to hook up a hose and pump some across to the main tank. Meanwhile, I've turned off the main pump and hot water system. Daughter in law was in the shower when the water ran out - not impressed! So tonight they're all cleaning teeth from a bucket. This is like camping at home.
