Our annual rainfall here in the Mallee of NW Victoria is 250-300mm (10-12 inches) per year and so far this year we had 255mm and it's rained again today. Most of our previous years have started with a wet February then had very dry spells through to mid spring.
Been bloody cold here too this last fortnight, with some good frosts to start the day off!

    Cheers, Mick.

    i was doing some research.
for 1 out of 2 years, somewhere in Australia is in drought going by records over the last 150 years

to me that says rainfall is not reliable.
yet we continue to to act like the drought is something uncommon. we really have the wrong mentality.

Its a big landmass, so we have lots of weather variations.

So far this growing season is one of the best in the nearly 20 years I've been here. There's still plenty of time for the season to fall apart although it hasn't been particularly bad in that time after such a good winter.

Thanks for that Bob. We are in the wheatbelt area of WA & have recorded the lowest rainfall ever in our area. Although all is nice & green it is mainly capeweed, with little evidence of even the normal grass. Mind you the grass is growing well in the orchards & veggie patches were you don't want it.
