I always maintained the 2 best mods i done on my Discovery TD5 were tyres and a CDL, I didnt spend a fortune on one of the after market kits but made up a simple mechanical linkage from an article in the tech section at Discoweb.org it only cost me a tenner but was very effective. On the Disco2 with an aftermarket CDL you have the option of CDL only CDL and ETC or ETC on its own. By starting the engine with CDL engaged ETC is disabled (its a facility for the mechanics in the workshop while doing certain servicing).
We used it to great effect in the Sahara last year and I found ETC to be a real struggle in deep sand. Unfortunately we dont have too many deserts here in Scotland so i have not had an oportunity to test the new 90. I am a big fan of ETC in most other situations, so much so that I specified it on the 90.
That is a nice 110 greylandy, love the colour!
