I've always steered clear of black interiors but will be considering one tomorrow. For country NSW is heat an issue and how badly does it show dust? The vehicle is a LR with factory tinted glass.

No problem here. Easy to keep clean. If you want to brighten it up, buy some coloured seat covers.

It would be a country vehicle where its impossible to keep the dust out when opening doors to open and close farm gates. I wont be applying tints to the already-tinted glass for various reasons but the current D4's glass stops a lot of heat anyway so I suspect the black seats and steering wheel might not heat up much more.

Everything in the Defender inside is black but I never really thought about it until seeing this thread. Haven't noticed any difference in regards to temperatures (and I live in WA).
I can see how black would be a problem if you had a white cat.
My road car has a black interior. No probs. I think a much bigger factor with heat is the roof insulation. A green car with a very thin roof liner that I had would bake everything in it. The current one has been fine.
Cheers
