    I think you might be confusing Eris with Eros which is a minor planet in the Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. In my opening post I used the term minor planet incorrectly also.

    Pluto was no doubt still a proper planet when this spacecraft departed earth.....
    It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    my uni text books still have it as a planet.

    i have a very very old text book from 1960
    pluto was estimated to be more massive than earth and had no moons at the time.
