Record difference in fuel price?

My apologies for being sucked into the off topic rants.
The fuel prices around here aren't so bad compared to some places. However the Mums have to leave there Discos parked at the School and go to work on the Light Rail Just to make ends meet. It is truly unjust that fuel prices are so disparate around the Nation. i don't think that it's too much to ask that some of us could pay a little subsidy to even things up. I'm hooked on the Supermarket discount scheme. I know it's all shades of wrong but what do you do? They've got us by the short and curlys.

By the way, I'm a terrible speller so I have the SOED on stand by at all times. It isn't too much to ask that we communicate succinctly and clearly so that we are not misunderstood.

You're obviously labouring under the mis-apprehension that fuel prices are related to costs. They are not, they are set at what the market will bear. I have delivered fuel to some of the most remote parts of this country. The delivery cost is well less than 1cpl.

I do realise that. I know that we are being ripped off in every direction. I was talking more in the spirit of things. Sorry I get a bit airy fairy some times.:angel:

Those differences are still quite a bit less than the 27.9 cents I noticed.

Can any beat 27.9 cents difference within a couple of hundred kilometres of the state's capital?

Often!!!!

Whyalla when I moved here years ago was cheaper for Diesel than Adelaide.

Then it climbed - and got to be $0.30 a litre more...

Has only dropped in the last 6 months, but back before then, even though Adelaide prices fluctuated ours never did :o

Amusingly, a drive 75km up the road would net prices almost the same as Adelaide (and no, I never drove there just to get fuel....)

If you are using Internet Explorer, install a program called IESpell ieSpell - Spell Checker add-on for Internet Explorer

Chrome doesn't need it as it automatically underlines incorrectly spelled words. However, you need to add the English (Australian) dictionary or it will default to US spelling. See https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95604?hl=en

The last time that I put gas in the RRC at the BP on Bribie Island it was over $1 at litre,I will be going out this evening so will check the price of gas and diesel @ the Bruce Highway at Burpengary.

Is it really such a big deal with price variation? If you're like V8ian & Co. fuelling up a semi or the like than, "Yes", it can be important but to the ordinary punter it's not really worth getting your knickers in a twist. If you have a 90 litre tank (& if you got to the servo then it's probably not empty) & take on say 80 litres then 10c a litre more is $8. Big deal. I don't think you get a Maccas for that these days, do you?
I must say that 20c difference is waaaay too much.
It doesn't matter what price we pay all prices are a rip off! What has happened to Australian oil deposits?
It's still cheaper than a litre of Cola though.

A couple of cents a litre is hardly worth getting excited about.

However if I am regularly paying 15 cents/litre more for fuel than Sydney motorists, that becomes significant over time.

To travel 20,000 kms a year using about 10 litres/100 kms, it costs about $300 a year more.

If the gap was consistently that large, it would have cost me about $3600 extra since I moved to the South Coast
