My insurance forms just say that my excess is $xyz higher if the vehicle is involved in an accident and the driver isn't listed.
Has been on both the insurers I've used.
Now my daughter is driving - her age is 19- I wonder how I would go - insurance wise- lending her the Deefer if her car broke down?
I tried a couple of these online insurance quotes & they seem to add $600 if I put her down as a second driver, either that or knock back the cover.
Would I be refused cover if I lent her the Deefer due to unforseen circumstances and she had a prang? - if she was not on the application form?
There is no way she would get the keys unless really in trouble.
Anybody had experience with this?
Thanks, David

That is correct, I checked when my kids were her age. My excess jumped from $600 to $2000 if they had an accident.
I've just put number one son as a named driver onto the defender policy, he's just got his p's and has just turned eighteen. The policy premium has increased by $1200 per year
The excess is $600 + another $550 if he has a bump.
NRMA make the claim that they cover anyone who drives your car - fine print adds excess for younger/inexperienced drivers
