Good for you. I was told by a wise man [ happily retired] that you should start planning for retirement when you reach age 40. I have people ask me " what do you do all day" To which I think......you are not prepared, what I do may not suit you. The most important thing is to keep busy in something you are happy doing. Only you can work that out.
Having an income is good, but clearing away major debts is better. You can not prosper on a pension, merely survive. Contact with other like minded people is important, create a network of friends who can support your lifestyle [ grow your own veggies, keep chooks, take up bee keeping, join a wood working club, the opportunities are endless, entirely up to the individual.] The barter system is alive & well out there in wrinkle land. Most of these lifestyles should be set up while you are working, while you have a wage coming in. And, most importantly, grow your super. Retirement can be enjoyable, if you prepare properly. Bob
