Well done.

Not your average landy as such. But the vehicle l first owned in 1980. A series 3 wagon. Now I have to work out how to get it back to Vic from WA. It is registered so possibly drive back. I have done that 5 times in this vehicle but that was probably 15 year's ago. Before I sold it to the current owner. He has sold it back to me. Interesting times ahead.

If you drive it back it would be great to see a photographic record of the trip back to Vic starring the series 3!
That's great to hear. It reminds me of the blokes in New Zealand who got their old Series Landy fixed up/restored and given to them by Land Rover on Valentine's Day. I won't go into too much detail, but it was really worth the read, I found it on the Land Rover phone app.
Nathan.
Thanks for the replies no photos. It would seem I might have trouble with getting it registered here in Victoria. As I fitted a Holden motor to it as well as a five speed gearbox, and recaro bucket seats. This was all done before you needed engineer certificates. It was registered with the Holden motor in vic before the change to WA Rego.
From what I have been told it would be very expensive to comply. Any thoughts welcome, I owned this vehicle for 24 years.
It is a 1976, 6 cylinder wagon originally owned by the vic government I still have original books etc as current owner did not want them.
Mods feel free to move this to series section if necessary.
Would you consider putting an original Land Rover 6cyl back into it? People have different views on these engines - but some people love them. If they are properly maintained I am led to believe that they are a great engine.
It might be easier to register in Vic - if it has the original type of engine back in it?
You would probably need to revert back to the original seats though...

Hi,
I recently was easily able to register a S1 with a Holden engine in NSW as it was done like yours when Type Approved so no need for eng certs as all I did was write to our RMS and they said as it had previously been registered with the Holden way back in the nineties that was fine --so could register again with no eng cert think Vic Roads may be the same--no harm in writing an email.
Do you have the rego number when you had it? Give Vicroads a call. The security register. If the engine number they have on record matches the one in the car, all should be sweet.
PM me the Victorian rego number when you had it and I'll see what I can find out.
I don't understand the fear of going through the processes for getting it registered. It may indeed require an engineer's certificate but that's no more than ensuring the vehicle is sound and meets the appropriate regulations. It's not an unusual process by any means (V8s into MGBs and TR7s spring to mind, but that's because of my background). I needed one to get my MGB GT registered and that was a conversion from RHD to LHD and it was just part of the process, not a deal breaker. Yes, it'll cost more than just buying new plates but we're not talking tens of thousands. You want the vehicle registered so get a price on what's required, THEN panic. I'm sure it'll be more than you want to spend but I'm also sure that you'll find it worth it to have your old vehicle in use by you again.
Will work on logistics.
