no problems with it...
HT tyres generally drive brake and steer better tha ATs and are cheaper to purchase as well as lasting longer than a lot of AT's and mostly if you drive a heavy 4x4 in a spritely manner you're going to burn up the steers first
I regualerly run different tyres front to rear and carry 2 spares but I do it to offset the cost of replacing the rubber, IF I stake a tyre and it cant be repaired then I replce the whole axles worth, and rotate out the worst rubber to the spares,
The tyres are your only contact with the road, it makes sense to me to have the best tyre for the job that you expect of it in the place you need it in.

HT tyres look a bit pussyfied to me. I think you need a full set of AT's minimum to look like a decent manly 4wder. If you only have half a set, then it says...."I've only got half a set!!" (In a squeaky little voice), or "I ran out of money!!", or "My mechanic is a dill!!" Tyres are like wives, you're stuck with them for a fair while so you may as well be happy with your choice.

maybe its not for a "manly" 4wd:angel:

Personally I have issues with how it alters the balance of the vehicle and I suspect that the differential in rolling resistance would exasivate wear in the drive train...
Throw in a wet road and...
But that's just my gut feeling and I thought someone may have some experience worth sharing on the matter...

exasivate,, wow!
coffee good?:D

It's the opposite of being asivated. All clear now? :)

When I had 2WD ute's I always had road tyres on the front & off road tyres on the back.
This was in the 70's & early 80's & you could do great oversteer slides.

It took me a long time to find this Inc,(exacerbate). While you have a good point on the diff' thing, I don't have a problem with people running different tires front and back. Nearly all of us run different pressures front and back. I prefer ATs all round and 28 Psi all round (not many heavy loads and a 50 Kg Bull Bar),which seems to be a good balance.
Cheers Billy.
