Yep, very good point which I've addressed as best I can with some new Phillips globes - they are much brighter than standard and give a much better low beam than standard.
The driving lights are for when SWMBO is driving the back roads from Rosedale to Seaspray down here in Vic at night - which she does quite often as her folks live down there. The old Lancer we had went to God on that road years ago when tangling with skippy. I want to try and avoid a repeat.

The reason I consider the Taurus rivals FYRLYTs is based on usable light. As per my avitar, I have red covers on the Taurus; this prevents animals being blinded and playing statues in front of me. It also stops dazzling reflections from road-side signage.
I am very impressed with my FYRLYTs, but find I have to dip the lights earlier for oncoming traffic and more often to prevent dazzling myself. Ideally, I would like red covers on the FYRLYTs.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
