    Lots of (antique) Massey Fergusons

Not something you see every day on a campsite

At Ayers Rock Resort; a load of vehicles drive in carrying enough jerry cans to fill a tanker. Shortly after over a dozen old tractors drive in.

Seems the MF Club are on their bi-annual trip, Kalgoorlie to Alice via the Connie Sue Highway, at 20kph!! Been on the road 3 weeks so far.

Rather than take the bitumen from here they're off via the Mereenie loop.

Guess we aren't the only ones crazy about a particular vehicle!

I snapped a few, unfortunately they are split up across the site, had hoped to get a shot of them all lined up for the night.P1000020.jpg

I consider a day in the saddle of my perentie to be tiring. A day in a MF saddle is true dedication. I spent plenty of hours on a 135 when I was young. They were a great little unit.

Have spend many days on end behind the tiller of a 35X. I was a lot younger and fitter then and don't remember ever being sore after 8 hours in the saddle, but geez, I bet I couldn't do that now without a lot of moaning, whining and a physio at the camp each night...

Yeah, but the moaning and whining around the campfire is the best bit

As for the MF mob, they're mad... but I bet they're having one hell of a good time.

Many happy memories of driving a 135 in places that 135 probably shouldn't have gone...awesome tractor...along with my old favourite Ford 4000.

We had a tractor crawl pass us over the new year getaway.
Very organised including a builders trailer set up for their coffee stops.
20KM/H max and no more than 100Km a day between camps.
A few guys had their partners and kids in the family car tagging along, rotating the kids on the tractor between stops(on approved seats).
    Cheers, Kyle

I have a 165 called Perkins. She even has a little plate with her name on the engine.

No PS, very little in the way of brakes, but great to use for hours on end. I don't get sore at all either.

    cheers, DL
