Thanks Billy.
I'm no Guru, I ain't no "figures man", but I'm old, I'm retired & I've been around business for a long time, and I've seen, very clearly, what's happened in Aussie, & it ain't all to do with Govt "support".
I can give you another example of how long stuff has been going "off shore".
My career has been in the Finance Industry, much of it involving the Motor Industry, particularly Dealerships, of all makes. Anyway, one afternoon, I was talking to a Dealer Principal about all sorts of things, His Dealership, Financial Package & a lot of other stuff. Dealer Principals are usually pretty smart chaps (or ladies!),...they have to know cars, Finance, be good people managers etc,..I've got a lot of respect for them. Anyway, He mentioned a friend of his who was selling Director's Chairs to a Supermarket Chain for a contract price of $16 per chair, the chairs at the time were being made in Aus, but He was having problems in delivering them for that price. He ended up getting them made in Taiwan for TWO dollars a chair. Now I don't know all the details of course, & there'd be freight etc, but anyway that's what He did. I would suggest that many Aussie business owners have done the same, for the same reasons.
The example I speak of would''ve been in the early eighties.
Pickles.

Keeping it simple is complicated.
