    Thanks Billy.
I'm no Guru, I ain't no "figures man", but I'm old, I'm retired & I've been around business for a long time, and I've seen, very clearly, what's happened in Aussie, & it ain't all to do with Govt "support".
I can give you another example of how long stuff has been going "off shore".
My career has been in the Finance Industry, much of it involving the Motor Industry, particularly Dealerships, of all makes. Anyway, one afternoon, I was talking to a Dealer Principal about all sorts of things, His Dealership, Financial Package & a lot of other stuff. Dealer Principals are usually pretty smart chaps (or ladies!),...they have to know cars, Finance, be good people managers etc,..I've got a lot of respect for them. Anyway, He mentioned a friend of his who was selling Director's Chairs to a Supermarket Chain for a contract price of $16 per chair, the chairs at the time were being made in Aus, but He was having problems in delivering them for that price. He ended up getting them made in Taiwan for TWO dollars a chair. Now I don't know all the details of course, & there'd be freight etc, but anyway that's what He did. I would suggest that many Aussie business owners have done the same, for the same reasons.
The example I speak of would''ve been in the early eighties.
    Pickles.

Wouldn't chairs be like clothing in that the labour cost would be over 50%?

Anyway just saw more manufacturing news for SA. 640 gone by Christmas , taking it to 1000 in 12 months, from the shipbuilding company, as the subs don't start till 2020 and the supply ship contract went to Spain.

I really do want the sub contract signed before July as it would be a good thing for sa and oz pickles, but is that wishful thinking?

Just to throw a curly one in here.
Some years ago I was talking to a bloke who was an Auditor for Vickers, at the time of the closure of Cockatoo Island Dockyard. Cockatoo Island had built many specialise Ships to a high standard. At the time of closure they were contracted to do the refits on the Oberon class Subs.
This bloke told me that at the time of closure, Vickers Cockatoo was the only arm of Vickers world wide that was making a profit. Work that one out.
    Cheers, Billy.

    That all makes sense.
I actually dealt with Korda-Mentha in my work many years ago,....they were just starting off then, nowhere near where they are now.
I get that the buyer will not be looking at past results, but will be looking at future prospects, where comment was made about reducing "costs", something I might have mentioned once or twice Frantic?....and something that the administrators will look at very closely when they obtain current financial info, which should show where these "costs" are, and whether in fact, they can be streamlined/reduced etc to enable a return to profitability,....vitally important info for any potential buyer.
Anyway, thanks for that link,....keep 'em coming if you can.
    Good luck, Pickles.

Well I guess the administrators will have a look at that sort of stuff.
Do you expect some sort of a possibly "supportive" commitment from either/both Parties before the Election?
    Pickles.
NB:, Forgot to mention,I shall be interested in the first "report"/prognosis from the administrators, who have said, (I quote) "We have a job to do on cost cutting......long term improvements need to be made".....etc
