    PNG Independance 40 years

    It's a big thing here , lots of participation, could teach us something about Australia Day

    Those 40 years have passed quickly! I was living near Port Moresby at the time, but didn't attend the independence ceremonies. I left the country 9 month later after having been there for 8 years. .W.

    Ahh! PNG.
    I worked in POM during the 80s for ANG and did a lot of the outstation breakdowns on the F28 and Dash7 and as such saw a lot of places. Also drove up to Wau and Bololo from Lae one time.
    Have lots of good memories from that time.
    2012 Fuji White 3.0 D4, Rear view camera, Hi-line sound, E-diff, Xenon lights, ARB winch bar, Lightforce 240 50w HID. Brads sliders.

    We had transferred to Bougainville by then. It was not such a big deal there.
    Their thing was Independence from PNG and they had their go a few years later.
    Quite exciting at the time
    Republic of the North Solomons.
    Did not happen but they compromised and became the North Solomons Province of PNG.
    All the Government stationery etc was changed and they had their own flag.
    Dont know whats happening there now but.
