That is a typical P plater statement and belief.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I believe that they are coming - simply because the number of people actually interested in driving and with good skills - is diminishing. What would you rather an unfit (drunk/elderly with no sight/skills/incompetent diver for whatever reason) or something that would stick rigidly to road laws and speeds at all times? Frankly I hope they get here sooner so when the day comes when I should hand my license in there is an alternative

Which prompts the question, do you need to have a licence to use an autonomous vehicle?

    And this.

I'll always remember that classic science fiction movie, "The Forbin Project".

Likely will need to for some time. But- in time it will probably not be required. Whether that’s in my lifetime who knows

How can it be legal or even practical for a company to release a vehicle which encourages ‘drivers’ not to pay attention with ‘autopilot’ but then say the driver didn’t respond to ‘warnings’, therefore it’s his fault he crashed and died?? Tesla should be made to recall all vehicles and remove autopilot. It obviously doesn’t work. Ridiculous.

"Autopilot" is a software function that can be disabled remotely, it's not a discrete device. Anyway, many other manufacturers are selling cars with similar functions. Veering out of your lane is dangerous and although this technology isn't anyway near perfect it probably saves hundreds of drivers from crashing every year. If you're an autoeroticist that doesn't listen to clear instructions and therefore die, that should be a lesson to all the other wannabe hands free pilots out there.
