They already have apps, online ordering, live account info and on hire reports but if you don't actually go get in front of our customers they simply won't order from you, the'll go to the opposision. I think the bosses would love to ditch the Sales team but it's a Sales led industry, and will be for at least as long as I'm there. Our customers are all too busy to get on line and do things - we've tried and tried. They want us to walk in, have a quick chat, take their orders and go away and get the job done without them having to lift a finger.

Also, I'm in that double edged position of being one of only a few people in the Country that can do what I can do, so it's nice at the moment that there are always calls and offers to move somewhere else, strong buisness and growth in what I do and a company that currently values what I do, but I also know that could turn with one or two big technology jumps and I'll be yesterdays news.

Until then, I'll milk it for all I can... 😉👍

Yea i was in the Print Industry and that took a big hit with Tech.
Skilled staff replaced with non trade staff.
Wages dropped as skill levels were no longer needed to do the jobs once done.
Tech just destroyed a nice gravy train.
    Happened bloody quickly too.

I know what you mean. I realised I'm currently the only person in a staff of about 1500 with the required qualifications to do what I do, so I might delay retirement a year or two. Currently upgrading my qualifications to stay current for five years. Definitely be overdue to walk by then. Just have to stay healthy.

I was recently at an oil and gas conference in Stavanger Norway where they had an autonomous bus. It really struggled with the crowds from what I could see. Constantly stopping as it clearly couldn’t weave around people.

Don't they to have a driver sitting inside for legal reasons in case the car gets it wrong? Sending a vehicle out without an override driver would be legal suicide if it crashed.

So, you are saying the corporations need a patsy to blame when something goes wrong.
For that reason alone, I will never travel in an autonomous car.
