    History has shown, they didn't.

If you read way back in the thread, you'll read I am all for autonomous vehicles. I can't wait to get mine.

But, they have to be as promised. No (zero) input from the occupant and no (zero) accidents.
What we are seeing falls far short of that, therefore, who is responsible for an accident caused by an autonomous vehicle? Tesla are blaming the occupant. I rind this unacceptable. They are supplying a faulty product. It shouldn't be the consumer who is responsible for the damages caused by the product.

There you go again, making me read the whole thread...argh

I also find Tesla blaming the occupant unacceptable much to the disgust of their cult following.... Tesla will be the down fall of both electric and autonomous cars as VW was to the diesel car.

Tesla has and will unlikely ever deliver on any of its bull**** promises

and you say the autonomous vehicle decides it's too hard??? drivers on the road now have decided its already to hard....
Autonomous vehicles kill more people per km traveled than those you describe, and yet, you still say autonomous vehicles are safer?
I think you have just shown how dangerous autonomous vehicles are.

I am happy enough to take a cab public transport or walk if I don’t feel like driving. If real tech advances are made I might be happy with teleportation. There is enough tech around these days to make us all just a little bit less active with each advancement. But I guess the autonomous vehicle will give the “driver” two free hands with which to hold the supersized cola and burger.

There was a bit in the weekends paper about Tesla and its vehicles.

    They called them semi autonomous.

Well if they are, that opens up another can of worms, who is actually in charge of the vehicle?

    I think i will just drive myself,seems a lot easier,and maybe safer...

Now this is ideally where its going, buses, taxis, trains.

But... l cant ignore the obvious....

Once all the autonomous tech is perfected and robot cars, buses, taxis are sharing the road with humans (said in the loosest of terms) its going to make people even worse drivers. You know the autonomous transport is going to avoid crashing, so why bother to give way, why bother to be polite etc etc.

This is only statistics, any new automated tech, has a higher rate of negative outcomes initially.

The danger is still going to be people even once the autonomous tech is perfect. The robot car that stops at a orange light while the human driver behind runs it. The robot car stops at a pedestrian crossing as a person steps onto the crossing, the human driver runs the crossing as the pedestrian isnt on their side of the road.

When every autonomous vehicle can record you, take your vehicle details and precisely log them in space and time, how long do you think bad drivers will be allowed to drive? All that data that can be mined for idiot control...
