    Magnetic island.

I am taking the Disco, my Mum and the Billy Lids to maggie tomorrow on the barge. Mum is too old to get on and off buses and the kids are too little to cruise around in a Mini Moke so I thought why not take the car. I haven't been to Maggie for a while even though I fly over it regularly. Good thing about taking the car is we will be comfortable.

The barge is the way to go Carl. I did it a few times in the 90's with the S111 when we were in Townsville. The Mokes are ok for adults but not so good for the sprogs. Make sure you go for a walk and have a look at the WW2 artillery forts overlooking the channel. Definitely worth the walk!!!

Yep, you'll be a lot more comfortable than a Moke or the other rental cars available. It's also a beautiful spot.
Been here for a week already today - only 2 roads "classified" as "4WD" - one out to West Point (you could drive a Moke down that road if the rental companies weren't pulling some kinda scam by prohibiting it); and one down to Radical Bay (will visit that tomorrow in the hired POS Suzuki 4wd).

The forts are worth a walk, but the beaches are awesome.

There's an old series Landy parked up the hill from Nelly Bay towards Arcadia and a 6 wheeler camper conversion driving around horseshoe bay.

    Enjoy!

That's my bus. Cheers. I bought it as is. Came with all the fruit. It's an in between car until I can afford a D4. Must admit the V8 is growing on me.

We had our honeymoon on Magnetic Island. We drove up and put the car on the boat. This was thirty years ago.

On our way we were involved in a car accident. I was T boned in the drivers side(my fault) and could not open the drivers door.

As we were on the island for ten days and there were a **** load of Mokes driving around and these did not have doors on them, I figured I may as well take the door off our car, as it was a pain having to climb out the passenger side.

I would post a pic, but as we are shifting house soon, all the photo albums are packed away.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Magnetic Island?....What a MAGNIFICENT spot. We were ther last year & stayed in a lovely house "Essence" in Horseshoe Bay. Beautiful, and only a short walk to the very charismatic Marlin Bar! We did the Fort walk, Wifey went scuba diving, & we did a sunset cruise on a sailing boat.
Can't see how this place could be improved.
    Recommended, Pickles.
(We also saw the Series 1!)
