    Huston we have a problem

On the way home tonight in my newly acquired Disco I have come to believe that the gas gauge is a little less than accurate. This would of course not be a issue if I could have flicked over to petrol. This won`t happen till I replace the fuel pump. On the up side though, whilst trying to organize a car carrier to get me home, one pulled up in front of me. Turns out he was on his way home. This car carrier guy must have a serious drinking habit considering the amount of beer money I handed over. Still he was A: cheaper than a phoned for one and B: a whole lot quicker. It was like a pit stop. I stopped, got out, checked the engine bay for any thing obvious, car carrier pulled up and we where gone.

You could have called the motoring organisation, told them the fuel pump had failed and got a tilt tray paid by them.....

It might have taken a few hours based on my own experience.

I know the problem,as our RRC is on gas,and the indicator is suspect, so I note the mileage on the trip meter(I get a receipt and write mileage on it) and at the 200klm mark, I refill as I have a large tank,so can get close to 300 out of it,my petrol fuel pump has taken a holiday as well, so that is something I am going to have to replace as well, luckily being an early carby 4 door it is a low pressure pump and not the injected high pressure one.

And where I quietly rolled to a stop I was mighty glad that one was on hand so quickly. Naturally as thing happen for me, I stopped just round a sweeping bend with a high bank blocking any vision for oncoming cars till they where nearly onto me. Made getting out of the Disco a fast maneuver.
UncleHo your reply makes me realise now why the seller new how many K`s he got from a full tank, also about 300 K`s . I do now remember him telling me at length how he did the same as you and have learnt the hard way why he kept tabs on the K`s as he omitted the bit about the gauge being sus. Funny how the little things the forget to tell you seem to matter.
