Sunroofs have never been very popular in Australia, partly because in most of this country sun is something to keep out, not let in, and because they almost invariably leak, weaken the structure, encourage rust, and add cost.
I first encountered them when I was in primary school 65 years ago, and people were cursing them then. They were very common then, as most cars (except the then new Holden) were imported from the UK, where sunshine is something to be cherished as a rarity, not something to look for shade relief.

If you want skin cancer on your head get a sunroof.

The L322 has one. It doesn't leak. My preference was to not have one. However, I quite like it. It's good for driving through rain forest country with it open or sometimes at night. When open it doesn't cause that noise effect like an open window.

I like sunroofs, & have owned several cars with them.
But they have to be electric sliding items, not that "pop up" type which is basically just a hole cut in the roof with a bit of glass.
Had an HDT VK Director, VL Group A, C63, wifey has an Audi S3 with a "Panoramic" sunroof,...all good, but I guess it would be fair to say,....not used a lot,.....probably because of increasingly improved A/C systems which somewhat negate the need for such items.
And, IMHO, some vehicles are not suited to a Sunroof, ...I don't like the "Pop Up" type items on a Defender, but if I was buying a Disco 4 or a Range Rover etc, I'd definitely option a sunroof.
As far as aftermarket roofs are concerned, there is some rubbish out there, I've always used the Hollandia product with which I've never had a problem.
But in reality, I reckon there are many more sunroofs about today than there used to be, maybe due to some extent because they are standard equipment on many cars.Pickles.

'El Burro' 2012 Defender 90.
Mrs Tombie had to have the Sun Hatch in her Defender when she built it...
Comes in very handy, crack it open to let the heat out when parked, improves the airflow when cruising around...
Only thing the Defender lacks is a shade to roll across when its a little too bright.. We've worked around that
I've had a few vehicles with a Sun roof and I don't mind them, keep the basic maintenance up to them and they'll go for years without issue..
Having said that - I can take it or leave it... Kind of like other options... Nice to have, but I dont need them - My D4 is a case in point... I had my "must haves" - ediff, xenons, leather, rear AC... Anything else was a bonus.
Cheers Baz.
