Im finding that incompetent people seem to have the idea that I'm supposed to be nice to them all the time, especially when they're busy whining about how its not fair of me to call them incompetent. People who are actually good at their jobs seem to have no problem with the way I interact with them.
Id have thought that the better way to not have grumpy buggers like me upsetting you by being bluntly honest about your abilities would be instead of using the time you spend complaining about how you were spoken to and researching ways to make my reactions to your lack of ability my problem just getting on and getting better at your job so I'd have no reason to be concerned about your ability (or lack thereof) and its impact on my life.

I don't see an increase in competency where I work. Incompetent Masters don't last long as the deck hands won't work with them.
It's becoming critical now as all but one of us is over 60, and we have just 1 promising casual Master in his 40s.
There isn't much politeness or political correctness as people tend to get a bit terse when you give them a near death experience.

Keeping it simple is complicated.
So, about 300 in total from the three countries. That's OK for qualitative research which is intended to expose opinions.
Even in quantitative research, such as the weekly NewsPolls, only about 1000 people are interviewed and that has a margin of error of 2-3 per cent, but we still make political decisions based on the results.
The key issue is to carefully word and target the questions to exclude irrelevant factors.
