Thread: Post-surgery ...'changes' anyone else ?

My FIL who is 82 has just had a cochlear ear implant and all the changes he reports are positive. I had a vasectomy a long time ago and that certainly had positive effects - no more worries about getting the wife pregnant. Helped my sleep.

    Your changes ?

Mine are different to those after cardiac surgery some years ago...

Mental / Thinking / Values are the main areas... Emotions got hammered before (see above) but relatively ok for this one.

I have had some major surgeries (mainly rugby injuries) under general anesthetic over the years and have never noticed any changes. However, i am waiting for a reverse shoulder replacement sometime soon and after reading this thread i am concerned about these so called changes. I don't need to be any more abstract or tangential than i am but i need that new shoulder.

    Concerned

.. Seriously, I would not worry or let it influence your decision, especially as you've already established that General Anesthesia hasn't affected you previously.

Only a relatively small(er) number of "difficult/fussy" folk such as myself have ANY noticeable reactions, and even fewer of those are worrisome.
