in the good old days they would of shot the tyres out.

the cost of the police operations to catch him would be more than the $12 he stole from coles.

And in Vic it is just an on the spot fine for shoplifting if it is under a certain amount and first offense.

Can't remember how much, but from memory it was less than a high level speeding fine and as a bonus no demerit points
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I think the principle should over ride the $$ involved. These guys get away with the small stuff & then go on to much worse.

They caught him, with a minimum of fuss. Police shoot tyres out in the movies, this was real life.

I would have thought they should have the technology to shoot some kind of sticky transmitter at the vehicle and then pick him up at their leisure, for cases where the number plate isn't visible.
    cheers,

    cheers,
the guy had no fixed address, so if they tried to pick him up later they would of failed.

Makes me wonder what might have been in the caravan that could have made running much more a reason than the 2 drinks he stole. Maybe meth lab, stolen goods, god knows what else...
